Ups and Downs…

I’ve been slacking again with the Dino updates…. It’s been a tough few weeks if I’m honest. Personally difficult things have been happening, work hasn’t been straight-forward either and in the midst of all that it’s taken me ages to get on top of Dino’s weight loss issues. At the very end of January I had the vet take some blood just to make sure there was nothing untoward going on and it was all clear so I’ve upped his feed *again* and this week, FINALLY, he’s started to gain weight again. Now to make sure he doesn’t gain too much too quickly, LOL.

Because of the weight issue he’s been mostly off work. I’ve been doing horse agility stuff with him and a bit of lunging with an Equicore, but no ridden work since Emma came out a few weeks ago. Hope to get back on this week though!

David (Osteopath) was out this morning and said the lack of work doesn’t seem to have done much harm; his usual stiffness in the right lumbar spine is present but no worse than usual. Trimmer also came out today and she didn’t think he was entirely even behind but he he’s not landing toe first or looking footy at all. So that’s good. He’s on his new diet now so hopefully that will be reaping benefits for overall vitamin and mineral balance soon, as well as just putting on more calories.

Hopefully we’ll back to decent work under saddle again soon!

Meanwhile we’re still doing agility training. Missed the deadline for Jan/Feb started competition entry as we haven’t yet mastered the curtain, but we’re making progress! He can now go through with some bits touching him but he’s very unsure. Hopefully we’ll have a go at the February course in time to get that one into the competition! This is as much as we can manage at the moment… Watch this space for more progress!

19 for 2019: January update

So one month in: how’s it going? Well. It’s not exactly been the month I was expecting….but some progress has been made:

1.Have at least one holiday that involves a hot tub
This might need to be adjusted since hot tubs were a thing I did with Peter…and we just broke up. This is a plan afoot for a relaxing holiday in September though so I would count that here.

2.Go walking in a National Park
Part of the September plan!

3.Go to at least one cider festival
Not yet!

4.Visit at least 3 museums
Booked tickets for the Natural History Museum with my sister in February.

5.Drink cocktails at least 6 times (in a cocktail bar)
Ticked off one of these with Kath and EJ at Mother’s Ruin

6.Do a come and sing Mozart Requiem (or Mass in C minor)
Not yet

7.Get to show 400 of Girls Gone WoW
Currently at 351

8.Go to Blizzcon
Still planning…

9.Finally get caught up with Arrow/Flash/Supergirl/LoT etc
Started on The Flash season 3

10.Eat more healthily
Been using the slow cooker a bit and generally eating better

11.Regularly cycle to work (at least twice per week)
Utterly failing at this! The weather has been terrible and my new office is soooooo close to the tube…

12.Read 20 books
Finished two and halfway through a third.

13.Have Bibliogoth happen every month
January happened, February is tomorrow

14.Either get a pay rise or get a new job
We shall see. I need to up my game I think as I’m sensing my boss isn’t that thrilled with me at present.

15.Have a better mental health year
Well it’s not been a great start… But maybe I can move forward now.

16.Compete at prelim
Pony hasn’t been right so not actually ridden for weeks. Trying to get on top of his weight issues.

17.Compete in the online Horse Agility competition
We have mastered standing in a hoop, tried some S-bends and started with the curtain. Really hoping to get something into the first monthly competition – deadline is 14 Februrary

18.Jump a clear round
Need to get his fitness back up!

19.Go hacking at least once per month
We hacked at least twice in January!

Photo subject for January was winter…so here are some winter pics:
