Bibliogoth

Bibilogoth is open to anyone! We’re always happy to see new faces :o) The basic idea is that each month we choose a book and then meet up and discuss it, in relaxed atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon.

We currently meet at The Lucas Arms, in Grays Inn Road, usually on the second Sunday of the month. In summer we sometimes have a picnic or two though! Meetings start at 14.00 and usually last around 1.5 hours.

What sort of things do we read?
The full list of all the books we’ve ever read is found here.

How we choose the books…
We have a long list and a short list. The long list is here. Anyone is allowed to nominate books for the long list, as long as they follow the following guidelines:

  • the book must be able to be read as a stand-alone book. It could be the first part of a set as long as it is self-contained
  • it should be less than 400 pages, or easily read in a month by an average busy person ;o)
  • it should be easily available and not too expensive (i.e. if it’s not in print lots of second hand copies should be easy to find and it should retail at less than £10)

Each month the long list is published here and on the mailing list. Anyone who wishes to vote is allowed five votes. The top voted for books then form the short list which is voted on by everyone who turns up at the meeting. We drop the whole list at the end of each calendar year and make a new one (although you can carry suggestions over if you want).
