I think it’s fair to say Dino thought 07.15 was a bit early for the trimmer on Saturday! Bless him, he had to finish his nap later so I saw quite a lot of him lying down on the weekend.

Generally he’s been going pretty well. We’ve done quite a lot of in hand stuff for the past couple of weeks as work and exam stress meant I was taking quite short trips to the yard and in hand stuff is a bit easier. We’ve been doing short sessions with lots of haunches in and shoulder in to strengthen up that dodgy hip and I think it’s been paying off. He’s not been as nippy as he was when we last did a bunch of straightness training stuff so that’s really positive as well. He’s finding HI right quite easy now but left is still taking some work. Ridden we have had a few sessions where he’s been quite forward and even managed some HI left in trot the other day!

Lesson this morning though he was a bit backward though which was frustrating. We did do some canter though and it felt quite good – managed to get him quite forward on the right rein! Lots of transitions and he came up a bit but Katie says I’m doing a better job of sitting still and not nagging him so that’s a bit plus.

Plan is to keep working on transitions and laterals for the moment.
