Weirdness

Weird week. The vet thinks that little Harry has stress colitis. His symptoms haven’t cleared up like the other ponies did. No more have gone down with the virus at least, and Dino is fine so that’s all good but very worrying for poor little Harry’s mum. They are keeping his hydrated with electrolytes the vet thinks he’ll be ok. Seems very odd though.

Dino has been very good all week and M has returned from the lands far across the ocean (the US. Not France) with some snazzy Renegade boots for him so that’s exciting!

Hopefully my friend Claire and I will take our new keenly loading ponies to the local gallops tomorrow to prove to Dino that sometimes when we get on a trailer we do fun things and don’t end up the vets!

Yay!

Super happy with baby today! We did advanced loading practice (i.e. I put travel boots on. Cue the Ministry of Silly Walks!) and he walked straight on! No hesitation, nothing, stood calmly and quietly on the trailer for a minute, walked off, walked straight back on. Really happy with him! :db:

Infection on the yard

Resigning myself to a bit of a worrying week…. There’s a virus going round the yard. It’s not serious; symptoms are being off food and generally off colour, bit of a fever and diarrhoea. First horse that got it had the vet out who took some blood and said it’s just a random virus and not much to worry about. Lasts about 3-4 days. I had hoped we’d escape as most that have had it are on the other side of the yard…but Harry has it now so it seems a bit inevitable that Dino will pick it up what with them sharing a windowsill. Little Harry has a temp of 38.7 degrees and his owner isn’t very concerned! 😮 The others went nothing like that high. I’d be calling the vet if Dino’s was anything like that…

Dino’s is 36.9 right now – figured I’d take a benchmark in case of issues. Watch this space I guess. 🙁
