I’ve bloody had it with this weather. It’d a sodding nightmare. Pony doesn’t mind too much and the yard is honoring their agreement to allow Dino out overnight still with Popsicle so that’s good but the schools are flooded and the evenings are cold and wet and generally this is not good horse weather.

Anyway.

Dino is doing well. Since my last update I’ve been trying to do a bit of Masterson each week, just the Bladder Meridian, but I’ve been getting a lot of licking and chewing so I think it’s doing some good. We’ve had another lesson with Katie which was excellent. It’s very slow progress at the moment but I think she really gets him. We need to focus on being very consistent but repetitive. Just basic transitions into a contact and getting him comfortable to ask for a bit more pace. I find it super frustrating but it’s really desperately needed. We’ve introduced some walk > canter into the mix to spice it up a bit and it’s good that his canter is coming along a bit too.

Hard to keep focussed when there’s nowhere to ride that isn’t drenched though. I’m hoping to do some in hand in the lunge pen today as that’s drier, but it’s been heavy rain all day and I don’t want to take him out to work in that really! So we’re making slow progress but roll on spring please….
